Members of the FNF ISP Team travelled to Niutao in February 2026 to carry out the six‑month review of the Niutao Island Strategic Plan (ISP), which was officially signed and launched in 2025. The review marks the first formal assessment of progress since implementation began, providing an important checkpoint for the Kaupule, island stakeholders, and the wider community.

Over a two‑week period, the team held in‑depth discussions with Kaupule officers, sector representatives, and community groups. The review examined each of the ISP’s Key Priority Areas, summarising progress to date, completed activities, pending tasks, and the challenges encountered during implementation. The assessment also identified practical ways forward to strengthen delivery and ensure alignment with the island’s long‑term development goals.

A community presentation was held at the end of the mission, allowing the people of Niutao to hear the findings firsthand and provide feedback on emerging priorities. The review reinforces the island’s commitment to accountable planning, transparent reporting, and continuous improvement as Niutao works toward achieving the vision set out in its Island Strategic Plan.
